The course is divided into 4 parts with average of an hour for each part.
Part 1: Mapping repair and recycling spots
As participants of the course, you will walk around the selected neighbourhood to find the stores that repair or recycle different electronic devices. You will interact with representatives of these places about what they do and the services they provide and how they will recycle. You will then drop pin on the googlemaps as well as share these places on the Map of PM4I.
Part 2: Let's talk about e waste with our neighbours
You will establish a booth at a public space and interact with the passerbys about the consequence of e-wastes and why we should recycle their old devices. You will print out the flyers and poster that are available on this course. You are also free to create your own materials. You will reward the people who bring their e-waste to recycle with a badge "I recycled". Make sure to have the safe recycle 2 bin next to the booth.
*'safe bin' means: not plastic bags, not heavy, not flammable
Part 3: Home e-waste collection
You will go around the neighbourhood in pairs with a bin. You need to wear the t-shirt "Give away your E-waste". You will go door-to-door and ask if people have e-waste that they want to get rid of. When people give away their waste, you can give them the badge. Once, the bin is full or after an hour, you head back to the booth. This is to make recycling more accessible to the people who cannot come to the booth.
Part4: Handing over the collection to Recycling agent
Invite the recycling agent your have identified from part1 or are part of your network to the booth. Invite them to share their knoweldge with the participants further if needed. Close the day with debriefing of the event, challenges and learning from all the parts. Clean and clear the booth and adjourn.
