“While placemaking has become increasingly popular, it is crucial to recognize the fact our youth is still not (sufficiently) involved in our city making process. The importance of youth engagement and empowerment, especially in light of our current and future health and climate concerns, cannot be emphasised enough. Young people are not only the future, but also the present of our cities, and their participation is essential in shaping environments that are more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable.”

The Placemaking 4 Inclusion Cookbook
To effectively engage young people in the placemaking process, it is crucial to provide them with fun and engaging tools that are tailored to their specific needs and interests. The tools from the PM4I Cookbook include a wide range of non-formal activities that foster problem-solving solving, creative thinking, and are simply fun to engage with. It is of the utmost importance that we involve our youth as partners in this process, thereby also including them in the design of the different activities, which was what happened during the development of this Cookbook.
